Saarland University processes personal data only to the extent necessary to provide a functioning website, to deliver website content and to offer services. This means when users visit www.studieren.saarland, their IP addresses are transferred but not saved.

The purpose of the data processing is the fulfilment of duties assigned to Saarland University by the legislature, in particular teaching and education as well as providing information to the public in accordance with Section 3 Paragraphs 1 and 16 of the Saarland Higher Education Institutions Act (Saarländisches Hochschulgesetz, SHSG).
The legal basis for the processing of personal data derives from Article 6, Paragraph 1, Point (e) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in conjunction with Section 4 Paragraph 1 of the Saarland Data Protection Act and Section 3 Paragraph 16 of the Saarland Higher Education Institutions Act.

We have concluded a data processing agreement with the service provider t3home pursuant to Art. 28 of the GDPR.
Pursuant to Chapter 3 of the GDPR, data subjects have the following rights:
a) Right of access by the data subject – Art. 15 GDPR
The right of access allows the data subject to obtain a thorough report to the data pertaining to him or her and other relevant details, such as the purposes of the data processing and the envisaged period for which the data will be stored.
b) Right to rectification – Art. 16 GDPR
The right to rectification gives data subjects the opportunity to obtain from the controller rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning him or her.
c) Right to erasure – Art. 17 GDPR
The right to erasure gives data subjects the opportunity to obtain from the controller the erasure of personal data concerning him or her. This is only possible in cases where the personal data pertaining to him or her are no longer necessary, where the personal data have been unlawfully processed, or where the data subject withdraws consent on which the processing is based.
d) Right to restriction of processing – Art. 18 GDPR
The right of restriction of processing allows the data subject to obtain from the controller restriction of processing of data pertaining to him or her. Restriction typically occurs during the examination phase of other rights exercised by the data subject.
e) Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority – Art. 77 GDPR
Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, every data subject shall have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, if the data subject considers that the processing of personal data relating to him or her infringes on data protection regulations.
